(ix), [17] pp. Frontispiece, title page printed in orange and black, headpiece, orange text decorations, U.S. postage stamp mounted opposite colophon; text clean, unmarked. Gilt-titled brown cloth spine, printed paper boards; binding square and tight. Fine. James Whitcomb Riley was an American poet and best-selling author. He was known for his dialect works which captured the dialect of Indiana country folk, and his children's poetry. The Passing of the Backhouse was one of his favorite poems. "This book was printed letterpress on 60 lb. Warren's Eggshell paper, using handset Bembo types. It was made at Bookhaven Press by Pall Bohne, who also drew the illustrations." Colophon.
