Worcester, MA: Pearl Lodge, No. 123, Knights and Ladies of Honor, 1887. Soft cover. Fair. 12mo, stapled paper wraps, 46 pages, 1887 calendar in rear. Paper covers are missing, otherwise intact. Condition is: FAIR - GOOD: covers missing, edgewear and staining at edges and scattered stains throughout. Recipes are on the verso of each page, local business advertisements on the recto. Published in Worcester Massachusetts and includes ads for area businesses. Date is determined by the 1887 calendar on last page. Recipes cover breads, pies, cakes, puddings, pudding sauces, salads, candy, miscellaneous (beef loaf, roast rabbits, clam chowder, escalloped lobster and oyster, pickled cauliflower, green tomato pickles, etc.), herb teas, and ends with a recipe for furniture polish! These older cook books make great reading material! The Knights and Ladies of Honor was a fraternal organization from the late 19th - early 20th century. This cookbook was a fund and awareness raising publication to support their Relief Fund for members' families in need.
