Description:
First edition 1st printing of Pelecanos' hardest to find title, Good to Very Good book, tight and apparently unread copy with very light bumping to bottom of spine, bottom corners, and with 1 inch white rub bottom back board; jacket is Very Good with the typical St. Martin's edge and corner wear which is worst at spines with some tiny chips there too, black back panel has mild rubbing with closed 1/2 inch tear top middle. Signed on the title page by Pelecanos. The second, and hardest to find, Nick Stefanos mystery (there were eventually three). Stefanos is a very hard-drinking appliance and electronics salesman in Washington D.C. (as was Pelecanos) who inadvertently stumbles into being both a bartender and an amateur P.I. after being fired from his day job.

Near Fine book that has light age-yellowing to edges of boards and dust jacket flaps, bit of crimping and touch of wear to spine ends, with tiny black spot to front of page block near top; in a similar jacket with mild rubbing to both panels, several slight overwrite impressions, age-yellowing edges of white flaps, and with lettering on spine shifted a bit toward back board. This copy signed by Hillerman on half-title page in what appears to be a transition from his straight "T" signature to the more flowing signature of recent years. This is Hillerman's first Navajo mystery to feature Jim Chee.

Fine minus, unread book that has slight bubbling to cloth near bottom of boards; in a Fine minus dust jacket that has slight touch of wear to corners. This was his second hardcover book, which was filmed as Born to Kill starring Warren Oates. Dennis McMillan helped his widow, Betsy Willeford, sell a number of Willeford books and other items back in 2000. A copy of the check I sent to Betsy to purchase some of Willeford's copies is laid-in.

First Edition. (1993) Hardcover with d.j. Fine with near fine dust jacket. D.J. has slight curl on top edge and light rubbing on back. No worn edges. Tight binding with clean, sharp pages. No markings. 305 pages. Dolores Claiborne is a psychological thriller novel. The novel is narrated by the title character. Atypically for a King novel, it has no chapters, double-spacing between paragraphs, or other section breaks; thus the text is a single continuous narrative which reads like the transcription of a spoken monologue. This book is dedicated to King's mother: "For my mother, Ruth Pillsbury King."

Collins White Circle Pocket Edition #228. Great 1940s cover! Colonel Anthony Gethryn must prove a man innocent of a murder he's been convicted for in only 5 days. MacDonald was a great practitioner of the mystery-suspense genre; his books remain readable, even if his characters are nowhere near as enlightened as we tend to be today.
