About This Item

Peterson & Rich, 2016. Book. About Fine. Soft cover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition.. 67 page booklet, blue wraps, about fine with lightly faded spine. Black & white and color photographs and illustrations representing the first four years of the architectural firm P.R.O. Inscribed and signed by the authors, Nathan Rich and Miriam Peterson, with thanks for the support (most likely just one author signing both names). Laid in is an autographed picture post card of a P.R.O. project addressed to a leading architectural critic. P.R.O. is an interdisciplinary design studio founded in 2011 by Miriam Peterson and Nathan Rich. Our office was established under the belief that invention pushes culture forward, but that lasting architectural innovations must be anchored to context - to typology, to site, to the current economy, and to speculation about the future. This anchoring preserves the integrity of our built environment. Our firm has specialized in cultural and residential projects as well as urban design proposals. P.R.O. founding partners Miriam Peterson and Nathan Rich were recently selected as Fellows by the Institute for Public Architecture for the "Total Reset" series, developed in response to NYC Mayor Bill Deblasio's ten year plan for affordable housing. Their project "9x18" studies how current parking requirements in the NYC zoning regulations have manifested in underutilized space and problematic urban design, and asks whether challenges to the code could create new potentials for affordable housing..
