Printed by Hullmandel.. 1831.. Lithograph, handcolored, sheet size approximately 21 x 14 1/4 inches (53 x 36 cm), with accompanying text page. Good condition: faint spotting in image area, right edge trimmed unevenly. An attractive blue, black and deep orange/brown bird. From Gould's first published work, 'A century of birds hitherto unfigured from the Himalaya Mountains.' Plates from this work are recognizable from their uncolored backgrounds, an effect which sets the birds off beautifully and accents the attractiveness of the lithographic process. .
