Contemporary calf worn, hinges a bit weak and cracked, old bookplate and catalog entry pasted inside front cover, chipping to frontis edges, long note in an early hand on verso of frontis, browned and chipped around the edges early on, a few stains and ink marks not affecting sense, scattered finger marks, last few pages stained at bottom margin, notes to rear blank; still, about very good overall and with the often lacking frontis portrait. The third edition of Culpeper's translation of the Pharmacopoeia Londinensis, and his attempt to spread medical knowledge beyond the wealthy. The Royal College of Physicians were not amused and reviewed it as "done (very filthily) into English by one Nicholas Culpeper". In 1654 Culpeper changed the title to Pharmacopoeia Londinensis or the London Dispensatory.
