In Two Volumes. Compiled from Authentic Materials by W. O. Blake. Columbus, Ohio: Gilmore & Segner. Sold Exclusively by Subscription. Vol 1 1865. Vol 2 1866.

Offering "a correct knowledge of the structure of his own, as well as of other governments" -- the overall stated purpose of the larger portion of first volume and includes statistics from the 1850 Federal Census. The History of the War was originally planned to be contained within the first volume. However, the war "assumed such huge proportions and the gigantic struggle became so protracted, that it was found necessary ...to add the second volume. Hence, two different publication dates.
Published by subscription only, this two volume set was held in a private collection, still with its subscription notice, which is included in the sale!

Condition: These two volumes have been professionally re-backed in leather as shown with original spines re-applied Bindings are firm, foxing throughout and a bit of damp here and there on introductory pages. Overall, super condition for books this old. Impressed covers are different from one another but gorgeous. Overall condition received with the professional restoration makes these ready to last another 150 years!
