George Virtue. Good. 1839. Hardcover. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS VOLUME 2 ONLY - A good hardcover without dustwrapper in aged/lightly soiled quarter-bound boards in pebbled cloth with leather backstrip and tips, the corners are bumped/rubbed, the backstrip has 4 gilt barred raised bands with gilt lettering and decorative motif to the ends which are both bumped/rubbed with the date 1839 gilt stamped to the heel, internally the hinges are strong and intact, there is writing (both inked and pencil) on the front paste-down and endpaper, the unmarked ivory pages are occasionally foxed, all attractive tissue protected plates are present and although occasionally foxed are clean and bright, all edges gilt. Extensively illustrated with full page black and white etchings, this is the second volume of a two volume set which concentrates on Burns' life. A nice copy of a scarce original (presumed 1st edition) hardcover. Carefully packaged and posted within 48 hours from our wee bookshop in Scotland.; 97 pages .
