Short (3/4 inch) closed tear to title page else Good condition internally. LACKING original covers and front and rear endpapers (i.e. the first page still present is the title, and the last is page 414 with "THE END" at the bottom). Suitable as a reading copy, or as a candidate for fairly inexpensive rebinding The final leaf is separated, but all others are still securely bound together, so a binding could be added without the effort or expense of having to re-sew the pages together. NOT a library discard. NO owner's name or bookplate. Pages are clean and unmarked. NO foxing. NO underlining. NO highlighting. NO margin notes. Handsomely illustrated with numerous woodcut vignettes. 1847 printing (originally published 1832 in 25 separate parts). 5.75" wide by 8.75" tall. See Hand E44.. 1847 Edition. Lacks covers. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection.
