Superb reproductions of Belgium botanist and artist Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759 - 1840) watercolor renditions of the showy iris, originally painted on vellum. 8 volumes in 16, folio w/a double-page painting of the "Amaryllis Josephine" to pgs 370-371. Known as "the Raphael of flowers", Redoute served as Court artist of Queen Marie Antoinette, and illustraed flora of Japan, America, South Africa, and Australia.
