Text in French. Scarce book on the 18th century clockmaker with special emphasis on his work on the chronometrie. A beautiful fine copy in bound wrappers laid into decorated cloth chemise and inserted in matching cloth slipcase. This is number 4 of 25 exemplaires on Japan francais de Barjon, numerotes de 1 a 25. Les cinq premiers comportent six planches hors-texte supplementaires. Leon Leroy's illustrated ownership plate to spine. Slipcase shows some wear at hinges.
