The Pilgrim’s Progress is in the original publisher’s very attractive red binding which has a gilt decoration to the front board of an illustration of John Bunyan in a roundel and gilt decoration to the spine, with gilt lettering to the front board and spine. The boards are in Very Good condition with light marks to the front and back boards, slight fading to the spine, and slight knocks to the top and bottom of the spine. John Bunyan The Pilgrim’s Progress has 379 numbered pages top edge gilt, with an additional engraved Title Page and fourteen engravings by William Strang ARA printed on thick card with a blind stamped border. The pages are in overall Very Good condition with the text pages being very clean; and the etchings being all present as per the list to the front of the book with their tissue guards being very clean, except for the etching opposite page 224 where the etching and tissue guard is detached with foxing to the margins and edge wear. Internally, this is a very attractive example of John Bunyan The Pilgrim’s Progress superbly illustrated by William Strang.


The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come is a Christian allegory written by John Bunyan and published in February, 1678. It is regarded as one of the most significant works of English literature, has been translated into more than 200 languages, and has never been out of print.
