George Carroll's account of the early years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa begins with his retelling of his family's immigration from Canada to Iowa in 1839. George Carroll went on to be a prominent Presbyterian clergyman in Linn County, and used his extensive connections in the community to build up this account of the early development of Cedar Rapids and Linn County from the point of view of pioneer families.
