Very good, clean condition; binding holes in left margin just outside neat line. An exceptionally fine handcolored lithograph issued in the "Reports of Explorations and Surveys, To Ascertain the Most Practicable and Economical Route for a Railroad from the Mississippi River To The Pacific Ocean" published by the U.S. Government. This is plate XXX from volume X, depicting a grey/brown and orange bird with white breast (Albert's finch of the southwest / New Mexico area) perched on a branch. The Latin name given is the contemporary name for this bird; no common name is given. The region noted at the top left of this plate is 35th Parallel. .
