Plate 5. The North-West Coast of America. Being Results of Recent Ethnological Researches From the Collections of the Royal Museums at Berlin Published By the Directors of the Ethnological Department

Condition: Fine

New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1885. Map/Print. Fine. No Binding. First published in Germany in 1884, the English translation followed in 1885. The folio represented a small sample of the thousands of West-Coast Native artifacts shipped to the Berlin Museum commencing in 1882. The full colour original lithographs were produced in Berlin by the Museum. The productions were considered the ultimate in reproduction colour and the folio itself became very sought after. Unfortunately for the collector, it was a limited edition and therefore, very expensive for the period. The prints from this folio are considered to be extremely rare. A total of only 13 plates were issued, 5 of which are in original full colour. Acid free matboard, ready for framing..
