Jacket has 2 short closed tears (less than 1 inch) to rear panel and light rubbing at the corners and spine ends. Not a book club edition. No remainder mark. No owner's name or bookplate. Clean, square, tight, and unmarked. Pages are fresh and crisp, probably never read. Publisher's brown cloth with blue lettering on the spine. Originally published as LES PLAISIRS ET LES JOURS. Translated from the French by Louise Varese. Precedes the first UK edition which did not appear until two years later, in 1950.
