Conakry, Guinee: Parti Democratique de Guinee, 1969. Rare. Hardcover. Inscribed by the author. Black leatherette boards stamped in gold. 81 pages. Includes nine poems written after the 1964 first edition was published. No publisher or city listed, but the front cover shows the elephant symbol of the Parti Democratique de Guinee which published the much shorter first edition in paperback. Fine. Cover shows minor shelfwear, the most noticeable of which includes bumps to the spine and front cover. Interior is pristine other than the inscription. The author was the first President of Guinea, serving from 1958 until his death in 1984. He was a principle voice of Panafricanism and encouraged independence movements throughout the continent. This rare volume is inscribed by the author:

First vol. has frontispiece portrait with tissue guard. Armoral bookplate of Howell Wharton Bickley (1842-80) to each front pastedown. "MButler" penciled on top of three bookplates. A handsome set, particularly when shelved. All volumes unmarked, tightly bound, square and clean. No evident repairs. Interiors are in exceptional condition for books nearly 150 years old, with only slight tanning. Exteriors show a good deal of reading and shelf wear and general abrasion.
