Introduced by Edward Dahlberg, a collection of poetry about the 1930 depression effect oh human dreams of a better world. The cover is faded around the edges and on the spine but the title, author and publisher are distinct. A previous owner 's name is on the verso top end paper and perhaps that owner marked favorite poems and underlined two paragraphs in Dahlberg's introduction. The book has been read. The pages are age toned.Dappled edge pages.

Dynamo, January 1935. First Edition. Cloth . Fair. Numbered/limited: 928/1000. Small quarto. [6 & 1/4' x 9 & 3/4'] without dustjacket. Brick red boards heavily sunned/lightened at margins & spine. Binding remains sound despite the torn cloth running along the bottom half of the spine and badly bumped/bruised and torn top of spine. Previous owner's bookplated affixed to front pastedown. Non-authorial inscription FFEP. Tanning to end pages. Deckled edges. 62 pages.

KENNETH FEARING (July 28 1902 - June 26, 1961) was an American poet, novelist, and founding editor of the Partisan Review. Literary critic Macha Rosenthal called him "the chief poet of the American Depression." Fearing was born in Oak Park, Illinois. His parents divorced when he was a year old, and he was raised mainly by his aunt. After studying at the University of Wisconsin, Fearing moved to New York City where he began a career as a poet and was active in leftist politics. New York: Dynamo, 1935. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Very good/good. Octavo, 62pp. A crisp, clean copy, very good, in the publisher's red cloth. Some spotting and fading to extremities. In the scarce dust jacket, good only, presenting nicely, but with a number of tape repairs to the verso. Spine darkened, with a few stains. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by the author of the Introduction, Edward Dahlberg, on the front free endpaper: "For Nathan Shuser with love, from Rosa & Edward Dahlberg. May 18. '35 N. Y. C." Dahlberg's first marriage was to one Winifred Donlea O'Carroll, in 1942, so we aren't sure who "Rosa" is. The inscription itself is nevertheless certainly in Dahlberg's unmistakable hand. Fearing's second book, uncommon in dust jacket, and certainly so signed by Dahlberg. This is number 448 of 1000 limited copies.
