Spine in compartments, containing gilt hand-tooled lozenge and circle motifs within octagonal and triple fillet borders (head of spine chipped). Covers with gilt hand-tooled scrolling acanthus and circle motifs within double fillet borders (edges a little rubbed). This early edition of the series of Jones Classics in diamond type became known as "Diamond Poets & Classics" and competed with the similar Pickerings editions.
