Edinburgh and London: Gall & Inglis, 1111. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Not dated, but dedication dated 1885. In very good brown bevelled edged embossed boards, with black decoration, gilt shield shaped title field on front and spine. The covers are a little wobbly from cracked hinge, but clean, though the corners and spine ends are frayed. Pale yellow end papers; dedication on front free end paper. The cut edges are in gilt and fairly clean. Very good firm, straight text block, with red ruled edges. Lovely steel engravings, including frontispiece. Two of prelim pages and end papers are tanned. Excellent for age.

Complete Edition; small octavo, [title leaf], [contents leaf], [ix]-xxx, 658 pp., frontis., 6 other plates; later, densely decorated full leather with all edges gilt; binding rubbed at extremities, front hinge cracked with front free endpaper gone, two book plates with one of them modern, only general light age toning to text but all the plates have fairly heavy damp staining in margins, some images touched but none obscured, good. - If you are reading this, this item is actually (physically) in our stock and ready for shipment once ordered.
