Cracks to guttering throughout, with exposed netting. Heavy tanning to text block edges. Moderate tanning and marking to pastedowns and endpapers with pencil inscriptions to front. Boards have moderate shelf wear, with rubbing and marking. Light bumping to corners and moderate crushing to spine ends. Binding remains firm with heavy tanning overall.

A good useful original copy overall, with the following flaws: scattered foxing throughout, paper moderately yellowed (not fragile), previous owner's name on the title page, fore-edges darkened, internal hinges and binding solid, exterior shelf worn, fore-corner tips through to boards, back strip leather cracked at hinges and leather chipping at top and bottom edges, with a touch of damp staining to the spine which is visible in the top of the internal gutter (does not affect text).

London: George Routledge and Sons 553 pages. Full pebbled brown leather with gilt ruling and lettering . Raised spine bands. All edges are gilded. Marbled end leaves. Letter is a little worn along edges and shows some rubbing on joints and spine bands. Otherwise tight and clean.. Full Leather. Good/No Dust Jacket.
