Red limp linen cover. 200mm x 480mm (8" x 19"). 8 plates. Giramia Discanno was an Italian painter at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples at Domenico Morelli and Filippo Palizzi. He then moved to Florence with a scholarship from the province of Bari. A follower of the Pompeian style, he dedicated part of his life to the reproduction and reconstruction of the frescoes of Pompeii and in 1876 joined the administration of the excavations. In 1882 he decorated the stairs of the Hotel Vesuvio in Naples in Pompeii's style, in addition to the Pompeii pavilion at the Hygienic Exposition in Naples. .
