With black and white illustrated frontispiece. Contains black and white illustrated plates. Front free endpaper appears to have been removed. Pages and plates are lightly tanned and foxed throughout, heavier to half-title page. Cracking to gutters of a few pages with exposed binding. Binding is slightly shaky. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends with splits and fraying to cloth. Moderate tanning to spine and edges. White marking to front board.

Very good blue cloth hardcover with pasted on label to spine and gilt top page edges shows light rubbing and fading to spine label, soiling and bit of rubbing to covers, soil at end papers and page edges, name stamps at various places, along with some other light trace wear. 512 partially uncut pages translated by George Burnham Ives and illustrated with four etchings. Still a solid copy of this edition of the classic works now for the first time completely translated into English.

Beautiful edition and part of a lovely set!
