Portland and Ogdensburg railroad, special time permit. Issued to Mr. Frank Levitt, 1886, Signed. (Possibly/Likely Franklin Leavitt illustrator of the famous White Mountains Maps. 1852-1888)

by Leavitt, Franklin

Condition: Near Fine

1977 Portland and Ogdensburg railroad, special time permit. Issued to Mr. Frank Levitt, possibly Franklin Leavitt illustrator of the famous White Mountains maps. He produced seven editions from 1852 through 1888. The pass, #314, looks like it was written out for passage between stations until November 1886, likely meaning he could ride anywhere he wanted between any stops along the route. It looks like he used the ticket six or seven times. It measures 4 3/8" wide by 2 5/8" tall. Quite possibly Mr. Leavitt used the railroad and this pass to go to areas depicted in his illustrated map for revisions and etc. His final map was released by his son in 1888. Script with agents stamp to lower right corner. Photos available. . Near Fine. Bagged & Boarded for Posterity.
