POSITANO by John Steinbeck - First Edition - 1954. - from L. W. Currey, Inc. and

by Steinbeck, John

Condition: See description

Salerno: Published by Ente Provinciale per il Turismo, 1954.. Octavo, pp. [1-4] 5-30 [31-32: blank], original pictorial cream wrappers, sewn. First edition, first printing. The printer's imprint on page [2] reads: "Edizioni Saturnia -- So.Gra.Ro. Roma 1954." This printing logically appears to predate the 1959 printings described by Goldstone and Payne and by Morrow (although the latter does note copies seen with the 1954 printing date). This article about Positano was first published in HARPER'S BAZAAR, May 1953. Goldstone and Payne A34a (describing a 1959 printing). See Morrow 236. Several rubber stamps of an America travel agency inside front wrapper and on blank recto of first leaf. Several small brown stains (fox marks?) on rear cover, a nearly fine copy. (#160404)
