Synopsis

The Postman Always Rings Twice , the first novel written by James M. Cain, was published in 1934 by Alfred A. Knopf. This book tells a dramatic story of murder and passion. Frank and Cora become lovers and conspire to murder Cora's husband, take over his diner, and live happily ever after. Things go wrong, and the novel is narrated by Frank from his prison cell on death row. The writing style epitomizes and in many ways pioneered hard-boiled crime drama, despite the author's distaste for the term. This book caused a sensation upon publication due to both the violence and sexual content.

About Xanadu Bookshop

Hello fellow bibliophile, welcome to Xanadu Bookshop. I Am Xanadu. I've been an insatiable collector for over 25 years and have amassed a diverse library of over 600 titles during this time. I have now taken on the challenge of adding most all to the Xanadu Bookshop catalogue. Owning a bookshop has always been one of my many goals in life. I'm grateful to Biblio.com for making it possible. I am not a professional book dealer, nor do I profess to be some sort of rare book specialist, I simply love books! I can spend hours browsing libraries, books fairs, I rescue books from curb sides, donate books to shelters, to children in need, I frequently gift books to friends and family, etc, etc. Unfortunately I don’t have nearly enough time to read as much as I used to. I do my very best to take high resolution images of every book I sell. I want you to see exactly what you're buying, I shoot video of some books, (particularly antique books or those that are higher in value). Unfortunately, Biblio does not yet offer a video review feature, but i'm sure they'll get to it soon. Until then, I will provide high-res pictures here on Biblio, detailed descriptions about the condition of a book, information on provenance (if relevant) and I will do my best to give a short synopsis on each book. Rest assured, the photographs given here will reveal a books splendor as much as its imperfections (if any). The quality of the books I sell range from Very Good to Fine. From time to time, I may list a book that is in fair or Acceptable condition as there are many people that dedicate their time to book restoration. Those books will always be found in the Books for Restoration Catalogue. Should you have any questions about one of my books, if you are interested in my book hunting service within California or if you would like to request a video of a particular title, the quickest way to reach me is on my Telegram channel- https://t.me/wkbooksPlease mind the time zone, I am in Southern California (PST). Business hours are from 8am - 6pm, M-F. Or if you prefer, you can email me at the address found on the contact section of this page.Lastly, I'd like to add that when you buy a book from my bookshop, you are helping me support my family. As a single mother of 4, I’m truly grateful for every sale I make and your patronage is deeply appreciated. Thank you in advance! Enjoy and please remember to bookmark my shop, as I’ve only just started entering over 600 fantastic titles to the catalogue.
