"When Poundmaker returned to his reserve he found that things had changed during his absence His second wife, Grass Woman, had left him because she had no one to provide for her. His reserve had been looted & pillaged by settlers & townspeople who claimed they were collecting the spoils of victory. His people, once free to roam as they pleased, were now required to get permission from the Indian Agent to leave the reserve. The missionaries openly condemned Indian dancing and religious rituals.
