London: Printed for White and Cochrane, 1810. Original edition, NOT A REPRINT. Hardcover. VG with light to moderate foxing. Newer 3/4 burgundy leather with 5 raised bands and gilt title and devices on spine. New endpapers. xvi, 104 pp., 6 engraved outline plates with a key to the appropriate coloringand precious pencil doodling along the page edges creating the illusion of movement when flashed. By training an architect, Oram (d. 1777) was noted as a decorative artist and landscape painter in the style of Poussin. With a strong emphasis throughout on thwe effects of light, the book includes chapters on aerial perspective, painting skies, natural variations of light at different times and the colors required for painting skies and uildings.
