The Prince of Orange, his declaration: shewing the reasons why he invades England with a short preface; and some modest remarks on it.
by WILLIAM III
- Used
Edinburgh: Heir of Andrew Anderson, 1688. Pamphlet. Small 4to. pp. 24. Text is slightly off-center; unfortunately this copy is also closely trimmed affecting text words near the outer edges of the leaves and obscuring or partially obscuring the last 1 or 2 lines on several pages. Signs of folding, general wear and mild soiling are present. The outer edges of the title page contain some tiny chipping and wear. According to the ESTC this is a reprinting of and reply to: William III, King of England. The declaration of his Highness William Henry, by the grace of God, Prince of Orange, &c. of the reasons inducing him to appear in arms for preserving of the Protestant religion and for restoring the laws and liberties of England, Scotland and Ireland (1688). The booklet also contains: "His Highnesses additional declaration" and "Animadversions" on both declarations (p. 14-24). This booklet was first printed in the same year by Randal Taylor, near Stationers-Hall. [ESTC R19517].

This is a wartime reprint of extracts from two Churchill speeches delivered in the House of Commons on 4 May 1909 and at King's Theatre, Edinburgh, 17 July 1909. This pamphlet was first published as "The Menace of Land Monopoly" by the Henry George foundation in 1941. In 1942 the pamphlet was retitled and republished as "On Human Rights". The publisher's introductory note states: "In now publishing these extracts it is hoped that Mr. Churchill's eloquent and emphatic criticism of the present Land System will not be lost sight of in the post-war reconstruction for a New Social Order of which so much is being heard." The pamphlet measures 7.125 inches tall x 4.75 inches wide. It is sixteen pages in length with stapled cream colored card wraps. The front cover bears a decidedly resolute head and shoulders image of Churchill. This copy is crisp and bright.…

Hulme, Keri: The Bone People. Louisiana State University Press, A tale of New Zealand. Stated United States First Edition, 1985. 450 pages, indexed. WINNER OF THE PEGASUS PRIZE FOR LITERATURE AND THE BOOKER PRIZE. Used. Very Good/Very Good unclipped original $17.95 dust jacket. Summary: "The Bone People, first published in 1984 by Spiral, New Zealand. About this book: The Bone People is an unusual story of love. It is unusual in the telling, the subject matter, and the form of love that the story depicts. This is in no way a romance; it is filled with violence, fear, and twisted emotions. At the story's core, however, are three people who struggle very hard to figure out what love is and how to find it. Hulme won New Zealand's Pegasus Prize for Literature (1984) for The Bone People. Then the book went on to win the prestigious Booker Prize (1985).
