Westerham; New York: Limited Editions Club, 1964. Limited edition. Hardcover. Near fine. Introduction by Edward Wagenknecht. Illustrations by Clarke Hutton consisting of 12 full page color paintings & 24 sketches. Number 752 of 1500 copies signed by artist Hutton. LEC monthly letter and info sheet laid in. Gray buckram boards; royal blue velvet spine with gold title label. There is a tiny bit of glue residue at the corner of the label. Otherwise the book is very fine. Beige slipcase with blue title label on spine. Slipcase has some light sun fade around edges on one side, otherwise fine.

Synopsis

The Prince and the Pauper is an English language novel by American author Mark Twain. It was first published in 1881 in Canada before its 1882 publication in the United States. The book represents Twain's first attempt at historical fiction. Set in 1547, the novel tells the story of two young boys who are identical in appearance: Tom Canty, a pauper who lives with his abusive father in Offal Court, London, and Edward VI of England, son of Henry VIII of England.
