About This Item

New York: Russell & Russell, Inc., 1962. WYSIWYG pricing--no added shipping charge for standard shipping within USA. Dark blue cloth, gilt titles on spine, xvii, 500 pp, index. Moderately rubbed & bumped, some dust & spots on top and fore-edges. This is a re-issue of the 1949 Princeton edition.. Reprint. . VG/No dj. 25 X 17 cm.

Synopsis

From the text: "The craze for first impressions of first editions, and first issues of first impressions of first editions, and first states of first impressions of first editions, has occasionally resulted in speculation and bibliographical absurdity among collectors and dealers.... Any minor change made in the course of the original printing is immediately seized on as constituting an 'issue.' A trial binding used for perhaps twenty copies of salesmen's samples becomes a rare 'first issue.'"
