First edition, first printing, second state with corrected spelling "Gorgias" on vi. xvii, 1079pp. with 14 pages of ads dated June 1892. Bound in publisher's original brown pebbled cloth with boards ruled in blind and spine stamped in gilt. Good. Cloth rubbed, soiled and worn at extremities. Stain to bottom of textblock edge, affecting pages throughout affecting pages throughout to varying degrees. Lacking front free endpaper, hinge at rear endpaper is exposed and fragile. Former owner name to front pastedown, and initials to rear. A bit of a rough copy, though in the original binding. The influential medical textbook, which has gone through many editions since.
