About This Item
London: Chapman and Hall, 1919. First Edition. Cloth. Fine/fine. ix, 274 p. + 2 p. of press blurbs for author's first book, The Loom of Youth. 20 cm. Illustrated with frontispiece drawing, photographs, and other drawings by Captain R. T. Roussel. Grey cloth with white spine label. Minor wear. Slight spine lean, mild foxing on the page edges. In mylar-covered pristine dustjacket that replicates the frontispiece illustration, showing a uniformed prisoner looking through a wire fence at a guard patrolling on the other side. A superior copy.
The author's third book, The Prisoners of Mainz describes Waugh's experiences as a prisoner-of-war in Germany in World War I. The illustrator was a prisoner as well.
