This is a stated first edition of The Private Life of Dr. Watson: Being the Personal Reminiscences of John H. Watson, M.D.In which Dr Watson relates the story of his life and adventures before meeting Sherlock Holmes.
Written by English author, and Holmes specialist, Michael Hardwick (1924-1991), this memoir has Watson recalling his shaky childhood in Scotland, his travels to America, his studies of medicine, his stint as an actor, his discovery of sex, his trip to Australia to find his long-lost Father on his deathbed, his affair with Sarah Bernhardt in Paris, his love and loss of Aggie (mother of his child) and his service where he survives massacre and typhoid, before returning home for his fateful 1881 meeting with Sherlock Holmes.
The front endpaper has a dedication; you can remove that page.The dust jacket has very minor shelfwear, as shown in the photo.
This book is in mint condition; it was read once, but there are no marks in it or on it.
