About This Item

[ Stockholm Sweden ]: [ Swedish Atomic Energy Company and the Swedish Atomic Energy Commission ], 1958. First Edition. Wraps. Good. First Edition. [3] ll, 153 leaves. Blue variegated paper printed in black. 8 x 11 1/2 inches. Printed on one side only, a mimeograph or spirit duplicated document (light blue ink). Dampstaining to the corners, covers worn and curled. Sunned at the extremities, previous owner initials and date written on front cover. Spine sunned to brown color. Dampstaining aside, clean and easy to read internally. Wraps. Reports the proceedings of a meeting on the use of slow neutrons to investigate the solid state held in Stockholm, Sweden on October 3-4, 1957, under the auspices of the Swedish Atomic Energy Company and the Swedish Atomic Energy Commission.

"The main objective was to illuminate the present state of research, both theoretical and experimental, in this relatively new field, where neutrons are proving to be such a powerful tool in obtaining data on the dynamics of crystals and magnetic systems."

Reproduces papers by 2 Nobel Laureates in Physics, as well as insights produced by the discussions held after each paper. This was a formative period in this area of solid state physics, and given it's scarcity (only 2 copies on OCLC - NYPL and Natl Libr Sweden), and no apparent copies available, a useful research tool for anyone interested in the topic.
