London: Thomas Nelson & Sons, 1914. Book. Illus. by Haslehurst, Ernest. Fine. Hardback. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. An exceptional bright copy of this elusive first edition, first issue.. Blue decorated boards with gilt decoration and double gold line of first issue, map endpapers. Retaining the highly elusive dust-wrapper with laid on illustration. The six tipped in plates with tissue guards are correctly signed 'E.W.Haslehust' but the artist's name is spelt incorrectly on the List of Illustrations page "Hazlehurst". In Pursuit of Spring provides a delightful account of his week-long bicycle ride from central London out into the Quantock Hills in Somerset undertaken in March 1913, its publication was to lead Robert Frost to suggest that Thomas should write poetry. 301pp. A really nice copy of a significant title in the history of literature. It was sections of this book which Robert Frost recognised as at least a kind of poetry..
