Kenney, illustrated throughout, signed by the author. The first edition of this work. Signed by the author to the recto to the front endpaper, 'To Cyrie Sweett, with kind regards, November 1945, Cyril E. Kenney'. This work was written in honor of Captain Samuel Sturmy and his work of 'The Mariner's Magazine'. The author of this work, Cyril Jenney, felt that Sturmy had been lost in history, despite the great demand for his work when it was originally published, and so intended this work to honour him. With ninety-three plates of illustrations. Written by Cyril Ernest Kenney. Kenney was a chartered surveyor and bibliophile. Bookplate to the recto to the front endpaper, 'Cyril Sweet'. Collated, complete. Condition: In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light marks and discolouration to the boards, due to their light colour. Some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Small crack to the head of the rear joint and to the tail of the front joint. Bookplate and author's inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Overall Condition: Very Good.
