Cover ans sever pages have creased corners.. vi, 145, [1] p., ill., 22 cm. Included is a one sheet (printed on both sides) excerpt for The Friend, 8-23-1951 on the visit. Kathleen Lonsdale became a professor of chemistry and the head of the Department of Crystallography at University College, London in 1949. She was the first woman professor at that college, a position she held until 1968 when she was named Professor Emeritus. She was given the title Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1956. Kathleen Lonsdale joined the Society of Friends (The Quakers) in 1935. This book tells how seven Qakers went to Russia and what they did and saw there.
