The Quarterly Review was a periodical originally created as a rival to the Edinburgh Review. Highly political the publication would comment on the socio-political climate of 19th century Britain, offer opinion pieces of topics such as slavery, law, reform and industry. Among the piece featuring in this volume, titles include: 'Roderick, the last of the Goths' by Robert Southey, and 'The Journal of a Misson to the Interior of Africa' by Mungo Park. In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. This particular volume features both the April and July issues of this publication. Condition: In a half calf binding with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart with patches of rubbing to the joints, spine and extremities. Shelf wear to the paper covered boards. Very small worm hole to the tail of the rear pastedown and also the rear endpaper at the gutter, not affecting the text. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot and occasional handling mark. Overall Condition: Very Good.
