This first American edition of Tennyson's influential work bears the bookplate and signature of Robert Clarence Pruyn, who was a famous American inventor, banker, businessman, and politician. Among other things, he established the Santanoni Preserve in the Adirondack Mountains, which is today a state park and National Historic Landmark. Book Condition: Good - original green boards with gilt decorations and title; head and tail of spine worn; some rubbing to corners, otherwise covers mostly clean with a few spots to back cover; pages clean.
