Mao Tse-tung (1893 - 1976, also Mao Zedong) was a Chinese Marxist military and political leader, who led the Communist Party of China (CPC) to victory against the Kuomintang (KMT) in the Chinese Civil War, and the People's Republic of China (PRC) from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976. In China, Mao is also recognized as a poet, calligrapher and writer. Regarded as one of the most important figures in modern world history, Mao is still a controversial figure today. Supporters believe that the rise of China can be attributed to Mao's leadership.
The "Little Red Book" [this work] is his main work: It is a collection of short extracts from his speeches and articles, edited by Lin Biao and organized by topic. Some scuffing, rubbing to wrappers. Owner's signature and some water staining to free front endpaper. Browning to pages, not affecting text. In English. Very good condition.

Synopsis

Quotations from Chairman Mao Zedong, better known in the West as The Little Red Book, was published by the Government of the People's Republic of China from April 1964 until approximately 1976. As its title implies, it is a collection of quotations excerpted from Mao Zedong's past speeches and publications. The book's alternative title The Little Red Book was coined by the West for its pocket-sized edition, which was specifically printed and sold to facilitate easy carrying.
