Beige cloth with title and decorations stamped in green onto covers and spine, map illustrated endpapers, 8vo (9-1/4 inches [23.4 cm] tall), pp. [6], 7-127, [128], illustrated throughout. Volume with corners and spine ends just slightly softened, a tiny bump to bottom edge of text block affecting 5 leaves, original booksellers small ink stamp inner bottom corner of recto rfep, gift insc. dated 1945 on dedication page. Price clipped DJ with small tears and edge chips, a 2 inch tear at foot of spine panel, fading and some stains. Rabbit Hill was the winner of the 1945 Newbery Medal for being the most distinguished American children's book published in 1944.
