[Vancouver, WA & Manitowoc, WI: Thomas & Delehanty, 1952]. Folio. [42 pp (unpaginated)]. Photo-illustrated throughout, double-page pictorial map in center, colour-illustrated endpapers. Copper-coloured photo illustrated cloth cover (minor bumping to corners, slightly shaken), still VG- copy, w/ presentation card from William Einzig, Vice-President, General Manager, Great Western Malting Co., Inc., to Louis F. Scheibner (1911-1992). First edition of this exceedingly scarce company history describing the history and processes of the Rahr Malting company, which took over Great Western Malting Company as a subsidiary in 1944. Great Western Malting Company was founded in Vancouver, WA shortly after the repeal of Prohibition, and after 75 years in operation and steady grown is now the oldest malting company in the Western United States, and with demand exploding for barley malts by microbreweries in the Pacific Northwest, and the rest of the country, it continues to be very successful.
