Philadelphia, 1864. Some period color, 26 x 36 inches. Folding into gilt-stamped brown cloth covers. Minor repairs, else very nice. The watershed of the Allegheny River in the "Oil District," Venago County, is marked in red. A reduced version of Melish's map of Pennsylvania, reissued by Barnes in 1849. This reduced version was first published in 1856, apparently without the highlighting of the Allegheny watershed in red. Rumsey lists editions of 1857 and 1865 (3350, 4061).
