Bound in full brown leather with gilt titles and raised bands present to the spine. Boards have light wear present to the extremities of the boards. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Stephen Oliver the Younger is a pseudonym for William Andrew Chatto (1799-1864) , editor of New Sporting Magazine (1839-1841) and an honorary member of the Society of Antiquaries, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. While Chatto authored several volumes, this is the only one for which he used a pseudonym. The book is not only a study of British landscape but of its people and their traditions.
