Spine has some unraveling and wear with a small hole but still very tight. Only one map has become loose, a linen one of New York. Previous owner's name and date (April 7th 1881) on endpaper. The title page states this: Containing large scale maps of the Dominion of Canada, Old Mexico, Central America, Cuba, and the Several states and territories of the United States. Together with a complete reference map of the world, printed in colors from plates secured by letters patent, producing the clearest typographical effect of any known engraved plates. Accompanied by a new and original compilation and ready reference index of one hundred and seventy-five thousand places, showing in detail the entire railroad system of North America, the express company doing business over each road, and accurately locating all cities, towns, post offices, railroad stations, villages, counties, parishes, islands, lakes, rivers, mountains, etc., on the continent. The special features of this edition are naming the nearest mailing point of all local places in the United States, and the full census returns of 1880.
