An issue RAT Subterranean News, a New York based newspaper founded in 1968, known for its coverage of far left organizations and causes as well as its militant stance on social and political issues. This features an article on people and police clashing at a Rockefeller Plaza protest, several pages on police harassing African-Americans in Washington D.C., after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. , news on music, theater, various collage art, etc. GOOD condition. General browning and minor soiling to the paper. Minor wrinkling, with some chipping, along the extremities.

San Francisco: The Trystero Company, 1968. Newspaper. 16p., folded tabloid underground newspaper, news, opinion, articles, photos, events, actions, comix, psychedelia, evenly toned, else very good on newsprint. The Express Times was S.F.'s main political underground paper. First substantial story questions relevance of latest UC Berkeley sit-ins at Sproul and at Moses Hall; another Moses story on p.6. Then, second part of a long interview with William Burroughs, conducted by Jeff Shero. Theatre radicals demand Bill Graham create free admission days. Polytechnic High School black students confront SF Board of Education (4 photos). Paul Williams profiles the Who's frustrating relationship with Decca Records, while Marjorie Heins opines on Joan Baez's pacifism (" bourgeois cop-out"), but she gives her credit for her "courageous, warm and high spirit" and inspiring music. Nacio Jan Brown photos accompany report on the Black Panthers from Polytechnic High. Cover art is by Jaxon.

Approximately 16 ½ by 11 ¼ inches. 20 pp., with black and white photos and illustrations throughout. RAT was a New York based newspaper founded in 1968, known for its coverage of far left organizations and causes as well as its militant stance on social and political issues. This issue devoted to the Democratic National Convention that was held in Chicago of that year. Included are several detailed street maps of Chicago, noting National Guard Armories, as well as buildings, locations, etc. With articles on Mayor Daley, the primary power people behind the convention, anticipated clashes with law enforcement, including a look at law enforcement defenses and strategies, an article on the opinions of the African-American community, etc. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. General browning.
