RAT was the most politically radical NY underground paper. Contents include: article on Weatherman village townhouse explosion, full-page letter from Sam Melville in prison, report on International Women's Day demonstration, Free Panther 21 poster, articles on Women in Cuba, Abortion, and outfitting demonstrators with helmets, gas masks, bullet proof vests, walkie talkies, etc., centerspread poster on "Women Unite!" Back cover is color poster for Gay Liberation Front.

New York: R.A.T. Publications, 1970. Newspaper. 28p., 11x17 flat tabloid, color self-wraps, evenly toned, edgeworn with several small closed tears along edges, else very good condition. RAT was the most politically radical NY underground paper. This is the 2nd issue following takeover of RAT by women staff members - an important milestone in the emergence of the women's movement. Chicago 8 featured in cover and lead article. Further articles on Panther 21 trial (by Jane Alpert), bombings, war report by "a Weatherwoman," early pro-gay polemic, centerspread poster celebrating Susan B. Anthony's 150 anniversary, excerpts from Marighela's Manual for Urban Guerrillas, and lengthy response by Paul Krassner to Robin Morgan's critique of him in her seminal "Goodbye to All That," plus reviews of contemporary movies, rock albums, etc.
