Near fine/very good. First edition -- the Civil War Book Club edition, with a special printed leaf boldly signed by Vandiver tipped in after the half-title page. (Civil War Book Club editions, by the way, are simply the legitimate first trade edition, to which a printed leaf signed by the author has been added.) Excellent study of the Confederate hierarchy. NEVINS II, 176. DORNBUSCH IV, 1788.
