Extensive early inscription dated 1798 to reverse of fep: "this scarce and valuable book is presented by Weatherhead to His Friend Delaforce, as a small addition to his library...". John Weatherhead's signature dated 1783 to title page. xxxiipp + 413pp + errata. William Chillingworth (1602-1644), was the grandson of Archbishop Laud. Following his conversion to Catholicism, then back to Protestantism, Chillingworth wrote this his magnum opus, which became a significant work of post-Restoration theology. . First Edition. Hardback. Good. Folio - over 12" - 15" Tall.
